Sunnah Procedures(tarika)AND Dua When Getting Into a Vehicle

Drive every car 🚗 like Prophet Muhammad ﷺ 

Method 1:

Start with "Bismillah" (In the name of Allah) and place your right foot on the vehicle.

• Recite three times:
• "Alhamdulillah" (All praise is due to Allah)
• "Allahu Akbar" (Allah is the Greatest)

Then recite the following dua:

"Subhanallahi sakhkhara lana hada wama kunna lahu muqrinin. Wa inna illa Rabbina lamun kalibun."

Translation: "Glory to Him Who has subjected it to us, while we were not capable of it. And, indeed, to our Lord is our return."

(Quran, Surah Az-Zukhruf, 43:13-14)

Then recite three times:

• "Alhamdulillah"
• "Allahu Akbar"
• "Subhanallah" (Glory be to Allah)

Then recite:

"Subhanaka inni jalamtu nafsi fagfir li, fa innahu la yagfiru ad-dhunuba illa anta."

Translation: "Glory be to You, I have wronged myself, so forgive me, for none forgives sins except You."

(Hadith Reference: Jame' at-Tirmidhi, Hadith 3446)

                                   Method 2:

First Say "Bismillah" when getting into the car.

Then recite the main dua:

Subhanallahi sakhkhara lana hada wama kunna lahu muqrinin. Wa inna illa Rabbina lamun kalibun."

Translation: "Glory be to Him who has subjected it to us, while we were not capable of it. And, indeed, to our Lord we shall return."

After reciting the main dua, say three times:

• "Alhamdulillah"
• "Allahu Akbar"

Then recite the following dua:

"Subhanaka inni zalamtu nafsi fagfir li, fa innahu la yagfiru ad-dhunuba illa anta."

Translation: "Glory be to You, I have wronged myself, so forgive me, for none forgives sins except You."

Note: Either method 1 or method 2 is sufficient for practicing the Sunnah.

Dua for boarding a watercraft (boat, steamer, ship, etc.):

When boarding any watercraft, recite the following dua to avoid drowning:

"Bismillahi Majraha wa Mursaha, Inna Rabbi la-Ghafurur-Rahim."

Translation: "In the name of Allah its course and its anchor. Indeed, my Lord is Forgiving, Merciful."

(Quran, Surah Hud, 11:41)

Dua for boarding an airplane:

When boarding an airplane, it is appropriate to recite the same dua as for land and water vehicles:

"Subhanallahi Sakhara Lana Hada Wa Ma Kunna Lahu Muqrinin. Wa Inna Ila Rabbina Lamun Qalibun."

Translation: "Glory be to Him who has subjected it to us, while we were not capable of it. And, indeed, to our Lord we are returning."

This supplication applies to all means of transportation, including land, sea, and air.

By reciting this supplication, one seeks Allah's protection and acknowledges His blessings in providing the means of transportation.
